Why Perplexity Pro Subscribers Can’t Reach a Human Agent

In July 2026, someone posted on the Level1Techs forum with a title that doesn't leave much room for interpretation: "PSA for paid Perplexity users: if your account breaks, there is no reliable path to a human — document everything from day one." The story behind that title is specific. A paying Perplexity Pro subscriber found their account locked behind a two-factor authentication prompt for an authenticator app they'd never set up. The same day, their otherwise idle account burned through its remaining usage credits. They reported it the next day as suspected unauthorized access and asked for the account to be locked down. Forty-four days later, according to the post, that request still hadn't been acted on — and the billing never stopped. We haven't used Perplexity ourselves, so nothing here is a first-hand account. What follows is built from that forum post, Perplexity's own community forum, consumer-complaint sites, and a large sample o...

About

About IssueRadar Hi, I'm Dana Voss — I write and research everything on IssueRadar. Why this site exists Search "best AI tools for [anything]" and you'll get the same ten names recycled across hundreds of sites, none of which mention what actually breaks, what disappears once you're past the free tier, or why a tool that looks flawless in a demo video falls apart the second you use it for real work. I started IssueRadar to do something different. Instead of ranking tools I've never touched, I dig into the specific problems people are actually posting about — buried in Reddit threads, in G2 and Capterra reviews, in forum posts nobody reads past page one — and try to give a straight answer to the question behind the complaint. How I work Every post here falls into one of two categories, and I tell you which one you're reading: Hands-on: I've actually used the tool for real work, and I'll tell you what that work was. Researched: I haven't personally tested it, so I'm relying on official docs, verified pricing pages, and a cross-section of user reviews — and I say so, rather than dressing it up as firsthand experience. I'd rather publish less and get it right than churn out generic listicles. AI tool pricing and features change fast, so I recheck details close to publish time instead of trusting whatever I found first. A note on affiliate links Some posts contain affiliate links. If you sign up through one, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes what I recommend — I'd rather lose a commission than point you at something that doesn't fit your actual problem. Posts with affiliate links are clearly marked. Found something wrong? If a tool update makes something here outdated, or you spot a mistake, let me know via the [Contact page]. I'd genuinely like to fix it.
